Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi Announces Charity Auction For Hometown Hospital

Black Sabbath icon Tony Iommi is holding a charity auction to benefit hospitals in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

Iommi had planned to launch an auction to benefit the Birmingham Heartland hospital charity before the novel coronavirus pandemic hit the U.K.

While the pandemic resulted in the "evening with Tony Iommi" auction getting canceled, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer notes that the hospital needs relief now more than ever. He's gathered another group of items to auction off privately.

"Without these doctors and nurses, what would we do..." Iommi asked. "We owe them so much!"

Iommi said more details would arrive today, Monday, April 6, via his official Facebook page. You can see the items included in the auction there or enter a big on eBay here.

Iommi has spent more time at hospitals than he would like. The guitarist has had multiple battles with cancer over the past decade. While he's been cancer-free since Black Sabbath's retirement tour, his doctors have advised him that the disease probably will return at some point.
