Arizona Teen Wins Free Car For Having Perfect Attendance

Officials in Scottsdale, Arizona wanted to show students the importance of being punctual, so they offered a challenge to all the students in the district: if they had perfect attendance, they would have a chance to win a Chrysler PT Cruiser.

"Some of the soft skills, like punctuality and attendance, matter in the work field just as much as the academics do," interim Superintendent Chad Wilson told Fox 10.

At the end of the year, hundreds of students across the district qualified, so they had to whittle the list down to just six lucky students.

"We ran our perfect attendance list from all of our campuses, and we had several hundred that qualified for it, and then, we went through the process to of kind of whittling it down to the six," Wilson said.

The six students were each given a box containing a car key, but only one of those keys would start the PT Cruiser.

Saguaro High School junior Michael Duarte was the lucky winner and he told Fox 10 that a chance to win the car motivated him to get to school on time every day.

"Just tell myself every day don't be late because I might win that car," said Duarte.
