Gladys Knight, Ledisi and Mary Mary are among the artists slated to honor Aretha Franklin with a tribute performance during the American Music Awards. Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winans and musical director Rickey Minor are also scheduled to take part in the performance, which Billboard notes will "pay tribute to Aretha Franklin’s gospel roots and her iconic 1972 album, Amazing Grace." In a statement, Franklin's niece, Sabrina Owens, said, “When I heard some of the initial ideas for the tribute, I knew without a doubt that this tribute will go down as one of the best in American music.” Franklin won six AMAs in her career and hosted the show twice, in 1976 and 1983. The AMAs air live on Oct. 9 on ABC.
