Bill Cosby (Inmate #NN7687) Placed in Single Cell Inside

Bill Cosby

He used to be known as "America's TV Dad," but now Bill Cosby is known as Inmate #NN7687. The AP reports that the 81-year-old convicted comedian spent his first night inside SCI Phoenix--a $400 million prison that only opened in July--placed inside a single cell located near the facility's infirmary. SCI Phoenix is also located a mere 20 miles from the suburban Philadelphia mansion where Cosby was found to have sexually assaulted Andrea Constand in 2004. Meanwhile, prison officials say the long-term goal is to place Cosby among the facility's general population. “We are taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure Mr. Cosby’s safety and general welfare in our institution,” Corrections Secretary John Wetzel said in a statement.

O.J. Simpson says that Bill Cosby should watch his back in prison. "I’m sure there will be guys protecting him but they’re gonna have to put him in protective custody... because it takes one nut, ya know?" he tells TMZ. "The problem is the nature of the crime. Rapists are frowned upon in prison." Simpson, who spent nine years behind bars for kidnapping and armed robbery, goes on to say that he thinks Cosby would be better off getting house arrest. "With his health and his age and the nature of the crime, there’s not a warden in this country wants the responsibility of a Bill Cosby," he notes.
