Aretha Franklin's family confirmed on Monday that the Queen of Soul is "gravely ill, although no details about the nature of her illness have been released. The confirmation, delivered by Detroit TV station WDIV, follows a Sunday report that the 76-year-old is currently in Detroit surrounded by family and friends, who are asking for “prayers and privacy.” Originally diagnosed with cancer in 2010, Franklin has dealt with several health issues in the past few years. Last summer, she canceled a series of concerts, citing “doctor’s orders.” Her latest performance took place on November 2, 2017, for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York, while her most recent public performance was at Philadelphia’s Mann Center in August 2017.
