LeBron James Unveils STEM-Based School for At-Risk Kids in Hometown

LeBron James may be a Los Angeles Laker now, but he'll always be a hometown boy at heart. On Monday, LeBron unveiled his STEM-based school for at-risk students in Akron, Ohio. The I Promise school is a public elementary school that will serve 240 third- and fourth-graders in its first year and features everything from a broadcasting studio to a bicycle for every student. The lobby walls are even lined with 114 pairs of sneakers King James has personally worn. James, who attended the opening, tweeted the day before, "The jitters before the first day of school are real right now!!! Tomorrow is going to be one of the greatest moments (if not the greatest) of my life when we open the #IPROMISE School. This skinny kid from Akron who missed 83 days of school in the 4th grade had big dreams.
