The Roots’ Black Thought Shares Song in Memory of Trayvon Martin

The Roots’ Black Thought has premiered a new song for the upcoming JAY-Z-produced documentary series Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. The powerful track is called “Rest in Power” and finds the emcee delivering lyrics such as, “To them it's real, sins of the father remembered still / For every Trayvon Martin, there was an Emmett Till.” Meanwhile, the song’s music video features images of Martin, Black Lives Matter activists and Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem, among other things. The first episode of Rest in Power premieres on Monday, July 30 at 10 p.m. on Paramount Network.
