The league's 32 owners have passed the proposal in a unanimous vote.
The NFL has come up with what sounds like a fair compromise on the issue of kneeling for the national anthem.
Players on the field will be required to stand, but they will be allowed to remain in the locker room. Players and teams will be subject to fines if they don't show "appropriate respect" for the anthem, and teams will be able to fine players in addition.
- How is this a compromise? Now players can't actually express their views on any issue!
- How is this a compromise? Now the league has officially told players they don't have to show respect for the flag. Just stay in the locker room.
- What does a football game have to do with patriotism, anyway?
